Ten plays to commemorate Hanoi’s 1,000th birthday

The Ministry of Culture and Information’s Bureau of Art Performances yesterday said it was working on 10 plays about Thang Long-Hanoi’s foundation and development in commemoration of the city’s birthday in 2010

In addition, from now until October 10, 2010, the bureau will also encourage new high-quality works of music, dance, drama and other types of art for Hanoi ’s 1,000th birthday.
In a separate development, according to Hanoi’s People’s Committee, of the 36 construction works to commemorate Hanoi ’s birthday, 15 are behind schedule. These include the Hanoi Museum, Hanoi Ancient Citadel and Co Loa Vestiges projects, Dai Nam and Kim Dong theatres, as well as other road and school projects. There are many reasons for the delays including shortcomings of those responsible for carrying out projects; technical complexities, and time-consuming conferences necessary in cultural projects.
